Watermark #3 is out in force!

Friday the 13th was NOT a scary day for our Watermark staff! The day was too beautiful, for one thing, and since our reliable local printers, Pioneer Printing, called to say it was ready at about 10 a.m., we started our route.

First we we went to South Beach to drop off copies at the Rogues Ales Brewery, then it was back over the bridge to the Bayfront, with stops at Local Ocean, the Coffee House, Port Dock 1, Bay Market, and the Rogue Brewpub. Then, after a stop at Oceana Natural Foods Co-op, we headed for Nye Beach and visited Nye Beach Books, Café Mundo, Panini, Nana’s Irish Pub & Kitchen, the Sandbar & Grill, Nye Beach Market, and the Savory Café.

Watermark Cover We chose “anti-romance” as the theme of this issue, and we were really glad that people shared their “un-love” stories with us. Drippy passes on some of the more random aspects of the romance of drinking in “Rolling and Tumbling,” Dennis E. Jones shares an early heartbreak episode in “45s and Valentines,” and young salt Herbie Derr examines “How to Sail a Barstool.” Matt Love, publisher of Nestucca Spit Press, continued his “Let It Pour” column with an installment on Port Dock 1.

Watermark is the ONLY local scene rag in Newport – the focus is on events, commentary, and local artist profiles – and we’re so glad our readers enjoyed the first two editions. We even had some letters to the editor!

We’ve had a lot of great feedback and we want more, so if you’re planning to put on an event, want to advertise, or want to share a story idea, please send us an email so we can get it into the next issue. Watermark #4, is coming out on Friday the 13th of March.

Share your 100-word “worst (or best) drunk-dial ever” story: email it to us.
