The Second Issue of Watermark

The sun shone over our distributors as they drove all over Newport, dropping off the second edition of Watermark! Our great local printers, Pioneer Printing, had it ready for us early, and we set off to all points Newport. Watermark is the ONLY local scene rag in Newport – the focus is on events, commentary, and local artist profiles – and we’re so glad our readers enjoyed the first one.

Watermark Cover We were really excited about the changes we’d made to the design over the first issue – we feel the impact of the graphics much better, thanks in part to local photographer Dennis Moler, who let us use the amazing image on the cover, “Aground.” I was personally very excited about the contents of this issue – Matt Love, publisher of Nestucca Spit Press, contributed “A Sandbar Christmas” for this issue, and we see the return of Drippy for “The Sots’ Buffet: How to Steal Booze and Cigarettes” and Smokey Locks for “Warming Up the Wet Way” cocktail ideas, among a couple other new voices for this issue.

We dropped off copies first to Local Ocean, the Coffee House, Port Dock 1, Bay Market, and the Rogue Ales Public House. Then we headed over to the Rogue Brewery in South Beach, and circled back to Nye Beach, where we stocked up Nana’s Irish Pub & Kitchen, the Sandbar & Grill, Cafe Mundo, Nye Beach Market, Cafe Stephanie, and Panini Bakery. Then it was time to head over to Oceana Natural Foods Co-op and Canyon Way Restaurant and Bookstore. It’s free, it’s fun and it’s a great way to find out what’s happening around Newport.

We’ve had a lot of great feedback and we want more, so if you’re planning to put on an event, or you have a story idea, please send us an email so we can get it into the next issue. Watermark #3, the “anti-romance” edition, is coming out on Friday the 13th of February.
